and stabilizer. It is a major chelating agent from which all of its applications extend from.

It is frequently found in ingredients lists of personal care products, manufactured foods and beverages, cleaning supplies, cosmetics, and skin care products.

A major chelating agent, It possess has high affinity for free metal ions, and is a common pollutant and impurity in many chemical environments. it helps to bring together all free radicals and impurities thereby giving free rein to all the major ingredients in detergents to work effectively and consistently without excessive chemical disturbance.

In addition, it is also has extensive industrial, medical and engineering applications and is hailed as one of the most important and widely used chemical compounds in modern human society.

Properties
  • Appearance / Form    : White Crystalline Powder
  • Molecular Formula      : C0H14N2O8Na2 .2H2O
  • Molecular Weight       : 372.24
  • Solubility                  : Soluble in water
Uses
  • As a preservative and stabilizer in many processed foods and beverages.

  • As a metal chelator, it counteracts the adverse effects of hard water by binding with heavy metal ions.

  • As an ingredient for rinse-off products that inherently require water to come into contact with the skin.

  • As an ingredient in Cosmetic products that deactivates the metal ions through bonding with them.

  • This prevents cosmetic products from deteriorating, maintain clarity and prevent it from smelling rancid.

  • As a chelating agent helps bind the free radicals and impurities, allowing the major ingredients in detergents to work effectively and consistently without excessive chemical disturbance.

  • As an ingredient in virtually every personal care product including facial moisturizer/lotion, sunscreen, anti-aging treatment, cleanser, shampoo/conditioner, hair dye, body wash and eye cream.

  • As an ingredient in electrophoresis DNA and protein separation applications to chelate metal ions required for enzymatic activity that could potentially damage DNA and protein structure.

  • As a chelating therapy, where it cleanses bodies of excess iron, mercury and other heavy metals; in blood testing and blood transfusions as anticoagulant; in cell proliferation analysis to keep cells separate from each other.

  • As a laundry detergent enhancer and as a water softener in industrial supplies for the maintenance, cleaning and priming of equipment and machinery.

  • As an essential ingredient in textiles and paper pulp industry in bleaching and maintaining colors and dyes.
Handling & Safety

Handling
• It is toxic to lungs, mucous membranes. Repeated or prolonged exposure this substance can produce target organs damage.

• No known effect on skin contact, rinse with water for a few minutes.

• Wash your hands and legs after handling it, as well as before eating, smoking and using the toilet.

• Promptly remove any clothing that becomes contaminated after its exposure to it. Wash promptly if skin becomes contaminated.

SAFETY
• Store it in tightly closed original containers in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place.
